The design of the Hapi chair derives of the fusion of two pieces of furniture: The Peacock Chair (Hans Wegner - 1947) with Chair Model No.560 (Pierre Paulin -1963).
This chair is part of the ´Fusions Series´, a diverse collection of pieces which are the result of a constant recombination process among furniture and objects resulting in next generation creations.
The Hapi chair embodies the concept of "cultural anthropophagy", launched in Brazil by Brazilian writer Oswald de Andrade in 1928 – the notion of devouring the colonial culture and transforming it into something Brazilian and revolutionary.
The chair makes strong yet subtle references to the roots of Brazilian culture, expressing a true "mongrel" philosophy that highlights the elements of miscegenation in the Brazilian people.
